Mboho Profile

Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is a socio-cultural organisation of lbibio youths founded in 1987 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Company and Allied Matters Act of 1990. The organisation has its International Secretariat located along Sir Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.
The organisation was established to:

• Preserve the rich cultural heritage and tradition of Ibibio people
• Mobilised members and the entire Ibibio people towards economic self-reliance and sustainable development of Ibibio nation.
• Encourage qualitative education among Ibibio youths
• Undertake/Promote such activities that will ensure economic empowerment, social and political awareness and spiritual upliftment amongst members in particular and Ibibio people in general.

Mboho draws inspiration from the legendary lbibio Union of old which catered for the entire mainland part of the Old Calabar province-the lbibio, Annang and Oron.
The organisation has chapters in major cities in Nigeria, London, Manchester (UK), Houston, Los Angeles, Detroit, San Francisco, Chicago and Washington DC. (US). Also significant co-ordination work is going on to get chapters started in Liverpool and Birmingham in UK and Atlanta and other parts of the US. The current President is Akparawa (Engr) Sylvester Akpan.

On the 4th day of August 2007, the organisation marked its 20th anniversary which featured lectures, cultural display and thanks-giving service.
