Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Loses Her Former Philadelphia Chapter Chairman
The death has been announced of Akparawa Effiong Samuel Essien which sad incident occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at a Marlton, New Jersey, Hospital. He was aged 58.
Akparawa Effiong “Nda-Scawawa” Samuel Essien (1959-2017)
Akparawa Effiong was born on June 30, 1959 in Ikot Eyo, Ubium, Nsit-Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, to the late Obong Samuel Akpan Essien (Village Head) and late Madam Nko Samuel Akpan Essien.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl E. Essien and two children Blessing and Obot, a son in-law, a daughter in-law, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews and several relatives.
Before relocating in the USA Effiong worked as a clerical staff in the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lagos from the late 1970s to 1980s, when he terminated his career to venture into private business, where he believed held ample opportunities for advancement.
In the United States, Effiong was a committed member and leader of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio (MMI), Philadelphia Chapter where he served meritoriously as Chapter Chairman from 2012-2016.
According to an a release by the Family of late Obong Samuel Akpan Essien in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria memorial and funeral services will be held in Philadelphia on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2, 2017 respectively.
The International President, The Executive Council, the Central Working Committee and the entire membership of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio hereby condoles with the survivors and family of this Ibibio patriot while praying the almighty Creator to grant eternal rest to the soul of the departed.
