MBOHO MKPARAWA IBIBIO BERTHS AT VIENNA AUSTRIA

Mboho in Vienna

Mboho in Vienna

Nigeria’s largest and fastest growing socio-cultural organization Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, like the famed oak tree that was planted in Calabar, Cross River State of Nigeria 30 long years ago, keeps producing multitudes of acorns in her seasons. And as is characteristic of all healthy seedlings acorns produce trees that adapt to new climate and new soils wherever they are taken to. These tress and their fruits bear true semblance and allegiance to mother oak.

And so come Saturday, 22 July, 2017 the 58th Chapter of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio will be established in Vienna, Austria for Ibibio sons and daughters residing in that south central European country capital. Approved as the one and only off-shore meet in 2017 The 1st Ibibio Summit in Austria  tagged Vienna 2017 will be celebrated under the theme: Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria: Africa’s Emerging Destination of Choice for Investment and Tourism. The Special Guest of Honour for the weekend interaction is His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Udom Emmanuel with Akparawa (Elder) Monday Etokakpan as the Chief Host.

The keynote speaker is Akparawa (Rt Hon) Onofiok Luke, Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. Chairman of the Occasion is Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, Hon Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom State while Father of the day is Mr Charles Eyo, an Austria-based business man and successful entrepreneur of Ibibio extraction.

VIENNA, THE UNDISPUTED POWER CITY

Vienna (German wien) is many things to different people. To those who like history or to those interested in architecture Vienna is the former seat of the Holy Roman Empire and a city renowned, the world over, for her architectural splendor. To comparative geographers Vienna is a city State, one of the nine States in Austria and like Lagos, Nigeria, She is the smallest in area but the largest in population. She sits in the heart of Europe. Austria is at the Centre of European traffic between the east and west and between the north and south, thereby embedding the country within a variety of political and economic systems.

To those mature in mind and soul and passionate about classical music Vienna is the home and capital of Mozart’s Salzburg and the home of the Pilgrimage Church in Maria Sal. To the tourists Austria is alpine-laden throughout her provinces. There is the Austria’s Imperial Palace, the Vienna Hofburg and the Emperor’s Tomb and the 213 feet high Vienna’s Giant Wheel from where you can view the whole of Vienna.

The afore-gone do not necessarily make Vienna the Power City, no. You must be wondering.

But Here it is. Vienna is the OPEC Headquarters. OPEC (Organisation for Petroleum Exporting Countries) is undoubtedly one major power broker and prime factor in world political and economic equations since its formation 57 years ago. It is noteworthy and historical that a seed of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is germinating in Vienna at a time a Nigerian, HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo is serving as the Secretary General of OPEC.

What is more? Vienna is the home and seat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As we are doing this IAEA is also busy with activities to celebrate 60 years of its formation which happened in July 1957.

Vienna is the home of a number of United Nations agencies and organizations. Need we say more?

Make your bookings right now if not already done. Come let’s meet at the convention grounds at the high brow Kurschnergasse 9, A-1210 Vienna, Austria. Let’s go tell them what we have got in Ibibio land, see what there is to see in Austria and decide on mutually beneficial exchanges should take place between us.

See attached flyer for detailed programme of activities.
