MMI MANCHESTER CHAPTER
Chapter Background
Following the persistent efforts of the then High Commissioner and Co-ordinator of MMI in Europe, Akparawa Jimaimah Essien, to bring together the Ibibios in the Northwest of England, an inaugural meeting was held in his house on Saturday, 4th September 2004.
Eleven sons and daughters of Ibibio nation living in the Northwest of England attended the meeting. They were;

Date of Inauguration:
Manchester Chapter was inaugurated on 3RD MAY 2008 at the 1st Ibibio Summit in Europe held in Manchester by Past President Godwin NtukUdeh, who represented the then President, Akparawa (Otuekong) Sylvester Akpan

Achievements of the Chapter:
- 2004 to date – Promote the speaking of Ibibio language among the Akwa Ibom Children.
- May 2008 – Hosted 1st Ibibio Summit.
III. May 2012 – Organised 2nd Ibibio Summit.
- January 2014 – Hosted 1st Ibibio Language Children Competition in the Chapter
- May 2014 – Hosted 3rd Ibibio Summit.

Current Chapter Status:
The membership strength of Manchester Chapter currently stands at seventeen (17). Members are drawn from cities in the Midlands and North West region of England such as Liverpool, Birmingham, Leicester, with majority of members in Manchester city itself. For effective communication, we are currently updating our membership data base to include residential, office, and e-mail addresses, as well as the contact telephone number of each member.
Meeting Days and Venue:
Meeting Day: 1st Saturday of each Month.
Time: 2pm – 4pm
Venue: The venue depends on which member(s) is hosting the meeting for the month.
